Equine Assisted Learning Practice

Right here in Port Macquarie, 10 mins from Port Macquarie is where practitioner Meg holds a gentle, safe space for women and young girls to have an Equine Assisted Learning session on a beautiful 40-acre private property called Abundant Grace.

What is Equine Assisted Learning?

Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL)

Focuses on building - personal growth, emotional awareness, confidence, communication, boundaries, self-reflection, resilience, life skills and wellbeing and connection.

In EAL, the horses become part of guided learning experiences that help people reflect, grow and gain insight through interaction and observation.

Through Equine-Assisted Learning experiences, I facilitate a safe and present space for women to reconnect with themselves and others by building self-awareness to navigate life’s seasons with greater confidence, resilience and support. While past experiences may naturally arise, the focus is on gently supporting women in the present moment and helping them take meaningful steps forward in their day-to-day lives.

FAITH APPROACH (OPTIONAL)
Equine Assisted Learning Practice

As an Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) practitioner, I support experiences that nourish women in walking by faith and not by sight. My heart is to hold a safe and supportive space for women to be met with the presence of God in the midst of building healthy relationships with our beautiful horses and with themselves.

I support women in cultivating the grounds of their hearts so they can feel held, receive the goodness of today, and grow strong roots that go deep to support them through all seasons of life. It's a delight to be able to meet each woman where she is at, and to encourage and support her throughout her journey.

I support women with the help of Jesus and holy spirit in taking steps into brighter days and stepping into all that God has promised and prepared for them.

Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Matthew 19:26

She strides forth confidently at last, ready to receive all that God has promised and prepared for her — for you, the one He loves!

Get ready and take the next step toward your healing and growth! Begin your journey by booking a personalised EAL session. Are you needing a space to rest, recover, and, when ready, embrace a new chapter of support and transformation?

What You Might Be Wondering?

What should I wear for an EAL session? Please wear enclosed shoes (such as sneakers, boots, or gumboots) — this is non-negotiable for safety around horses. Wear white at your own risk, can't guarantee it will come back the same colour though haha! What's recommended to wear is long sleeve shirt, a hat and gumboots.

Do I need to be Christian to have a session? Not at all. These experiences are open to women from all walks of life. While my faith is part of the heart behind what I do, women from all walks of life are welcome. My hope is simply to create a safe, supportive and grounded space where women can slow down, connect, grow and feel encouraged through time alongside the horses.

What is the difference between Equine-Assisted Learning and Therapy? Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL) focuses on personal growth, self-awareness, reflection, confidence, connection and emotional wellbeing through guided experiences alongside horses. The focus is on the present moment, learning, growth and supportive experiences rather than clinical treatment. Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is more clinically focused and involves working more deeply with mental health, trauma and therapeutic interventions. HOWEVER - At this stage, my work is centered around Equine-Assisted Learning experiences BUT I am currently continuing my studies, with the intention of becoming a qualified Equine Psychotherapy Practitioner by the end of next year 2027, Praise God!

What happens if its raining? If it’s raining, sessions still go ahead. There are covered areas and blankets available and we simply adapt the session depending on conditions - either more observational or still interactive under cover with the horses. A little rain just adds atmosphere -the horses are use to it so we don't mind. Of course if severely rainy and windy - a reschedule will be in order

Are the horses welfare looked after? Yes! Yes! and yes! The horses wellbeing comes first, always. They are deeply loved and cared for as individuals. I work from an I–Thou relationship approach, which means I meet the horses as living beings with their own needs, voice, and choice in every moment. They are never made to participate and are always free to step away or rest whenever they choose. They spend most of their time out in paddocks, where they can move freely, rest, play, and simply be horses. When they are part of sessions, their comfort and choice guide everything. I pay close attention to their body language and behaviour to ensure they are willing participants. If a horse shows any sign of discomfort, that is respected, and they are never asked to continue.

Do I need horse experience? Not at all. No horse experience is needed. Sessions are designed to be welcoming, supportive and beginner friendly. You will be gently guided throughout the experience at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for you. There is no riding involved in sessions. All experiences take place on the ground alongside the horses through guided interaction, observation, reflection and connection.

Why Horses? Horses are special because they are incredibly sensitive, present and honest animals. They respond naturally to body language and emotion, which can help create opportunities for reflection, awareness and connection. Their calm strength and gentle nature often help people slow down, become more present and reconnect with themselves in a grounded and beautiful way. Through guided Equine-Assisted Learning experiences, interactions with horses can gently bring emotions, patterns and awareness to the surface. This work would not be possible without the special partnership of my horses. Thank you Minty & Cody, my dear friends x

What is your cancellation policy? Cancellations or reschedules require at least 48 hours’ notice. This allows time to offer the spot to someone else. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the session will be charged.

Can I meet the horses before starting? Yes - you can meet the horses before starting. Our free 30-minute Bloomin Initial Equine Intro Session is a gentle first step to meet the horses, connect with Meg, and get a feel for EAL. It’s ideal for women, parents, and young people wanting to explore the space comfortably.
