Heart & Journey of Provision

Updated: Jun 10

During a very hard season of my life, the Lord asked me to lay down my old standard of love, which wasn't really love at all. It shook me to my very core and I can honestly say it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do at the time. There was so much I didn't know, and what I pictured my future would look like totally changed.

At the time I desperately needed a pure, holy love – a real love that wasn't abusive, conditional or had strings attached that was being shown to me. When I laid the hurting and reckless boy down at the feet of Jesus and trust Jesus. Maybe you have heard it before? Many people have told me that $60 spent on flowers was a “waste”, but what I heard was

That I wasn't worth the time.

That I wasn't worth the money or that I wasn't worth the “trouble” of getting flowers for.

“Not worth it” was imprinted on the forefront of my mind and eroded at the already deep valleys of my heart.

when that girl Meg laid it all down and trusted God - healing and wholeness was on the way. Coming for her with fiery unstoppable love to show her the real deal.

Flowers.

For nine months straight, bouquet after bouquet came my way.

It honestly took me back, no one who gave me flowers even understood the depths of what I was going through. Yet, for nine months, I'd receive flowers, then they'd die, then I'd receive the next, back to back. It was incredible. I couldn't believe it. Everytime I received a bouquet, it would hit my heart. I felt seen, I felt beautiful and cared for and cherished by him. No one had ever treated me so gentlemen like in my life, no one had ever treated me so good as the lord did. An already aching heart, a hurting heart would be revived with the goodness of God, and snuggled into the warmth of his love. He sees me - el roy the God who sees me.

I can say without a doubt those nine months of flowers made me feel irreplaceable.

so valued and loved, so so cherished by God.

It left me shocked.

God was trying to make an ongoing point to me that I was so utterly loved by him and this was the standard, Jesus love. It moved me deeply, It brought so much healing to an aching heart.

I wouldn't say I was being spoiled because spoilt implies unworthy of it, but I was truly cherished and worth it to Jesus.

This truly showed me that God loves me and says I am worth that standard of love. He wants to set that example for me and all his daughters so I know not to settle for any less than Jesus' love in my life with a partner in the future. He began to open my eyes to how He sees me and restored me in doing so. God heals through flowers.

After that period of receiving flowers ended, one day I just woke up with a super strong desire to garden, after 18 years of absolutely no interest. Tell me that's God without telling me that's God! So, I got to work, starting with what I had – a messy backyard covered in dog poop, branches, and thorns – which I cleared. My goal was simple: to grow vegetables and make up my own bouquets for my myself. I can proudly say, by God's love and help, this dream I'm doing today is a reality.

As I reflect on my journey, I can see my worth in Jesus. He really raised the bar, and I know that girl back then was truly loved by God to become the woman she is today, coming to a place of saying... wow, I think I might be starting to even love myself again, to take care of myself, because I am His. I am Jesus' bride, I am God's daughter. He's taken me on a much-needed journey with that, and I am grateful.

Let these flowers say "you are worth it" too. God is the ultimate gentleman suitor, be wooed by Him, you won't settle for less. He won over my heart with His pure, romantic love – a love that didn't require me to give Him anything, a love that didn't demand His own way, not self-seeking, a love that was patient and kind.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

New Living Translation:

Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance. Prophecy and speaking in unknown languages and special knowledge will become useless. But love will last forever!

The Passion Translation:

Love is large and incredibly patient. Love is gentle and consistently kind to all. It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else. Love does not brag about one’s achievements nor inflate its own importance. Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek its own honour. Love is not easily exasperated or quick to take offense. Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong. Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others. Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up. Love never stops loving. It extends beyond the gift of prophecy, which eventually fades away. It is greater than the gift of speaking in tongues, which will cease. It surpasses the gift of special knowledge, which will become useless.
